By trusting in God's plan for my life, I found the courage to go outside my comfort zone and try something I had always dreamed of. My life has completely changed, all because I chose to listen and follow the path I was meant for.
It was a moment that brought me closer to God and led me to take a leap of faith. For years, I worked in various positions, from social work to human resources. Although I found some fulfillment in these jobs, I always felt like there was something missing. I have always had an interest in real estate ever since I was a child. But as the sole source of income for our household after my husband retired, I didn't think I would be able to make a sustainable living.
However, one day, everything changed. I was at church, and the preacher delivered a sermon about hearing from God and listening to His plan for our lives. As I listened to his words, I felt a stirring in my heart.
Not long before this, someone at the church had asked me, “When are you planning to get into real estate?” It was as if I was being nudged in the right direction without realizing it. Description automatically generated with medium confidenceI had been holding myself back from pursuing my dreams, and I needed to trust in God's plan for my life. He was telling me something, and I hadn’t been listening. After the sermon, the preacher turned to me and looked right at me as if God was saying, “I see you.” God was speaking directly to me, encouraging me to take that leap of faith.
So, I did. I resigned from my job and began my journey into the world of real estate. It wasn't easy, especially with the uncertainty of a fluctuating income, but I knew that I was following God's plan for my life, and that gave me the strength to keep going. As a preacher’s daughter, I had grown up in church, playing the piano and singing in the choir. I was even a youth director for many years, but I didn't really know what my place was. I did all the right things, but I still felt lost in my faith.
I didn’t know my calling within the church. It wasn’t until I attended a Ladies Group meeting in 2015 at Piedmont Baptist Church that I had my spiritual awakening. I was emotional, feeling lost at the time. The leader, Amy, told me it was time to “Step back and let God work on me.” That’s exactly what I chose to do, and it was the best decision I ever made. Through my faith, I have had the most incredible personal transformation.
I am more compassionate and less critical – everyone has a story, and you never know what battles someone is facing. My faith has humbled me while bringing an immense amount of joy to my life. I became grateful for everything I have. Where I once felt lost, I began to see my purpose in helping others. I started helping out with the nursery and toddlers at our church, and I recently started working with the preschoolers, which I absolutely love.
Part of that journey was trusting in God’s plan for me to get into real estate. It has been a blessing that many of my real estate clients are already in my sphere. I get to serve the people who matter most to me and be 100% my authentic self. I am so proud of what I have been able to achieve in this career and the many people I have been fortunate enough to help. And it all started with that one sermon that spoke to my heart and encouraged me to take a chance.
When I am not working, I love spending time with my grandkids, taking them to the park, and getting ice cream. The most exciting part of my day is making personal connections with people. To me, real estate is one of the most special careers in the world because I get to spend a lot of my time building relationships.
I get to learn the “why” behind my clients’ goals. Then, I get to apply my knowledge and industry know-how to help them achieve their goals. Truly nothing compares to the feeling of helping someone in such a personal and impactful way. Honesty is the most important part of my job.
If I don't feel that a home is right for my client, I will say it! By showing you the pros and cons of every property, I ensure that you are making smart, informed decisions. Building a reputation on trust is more important to me than closing a deal, and that will always hold true.
Even after the transaction is over, I will continue to support you as your REALTOR® for life, ready to help you with any future needs!
